ANDREA TERRERO GABBADON PHD

Equipping school districts, and organizations design systems where educators of color stay, thrive, and lead.

Dr. Andrea Terrero Gabbadon is a nationally recognized expert in educator retention and culturally affirming leadership and one of the few scholar-practitioners who brings both the research grounding and the school leadership experience to move a district from awareness to measurable action.

As a turnaround school leader, Dr. Gabbadon recruited and developed staff to surpass achievement goals while expanding advanced placement, honors, and enrichment offerings and building a culture of teacher leadership. She knows what it costs to lose great educators and what it takes to keep them.

Dr. Gabbadon is the author of Support and Retain Educators of Color (ASCD, 2023), a widely adopted resource across K-12 schools, institutions of higher education, educational non-profits, and school contexts ranging from suburban to urban districts. The School District of Philadelphia purchased the book for more than 700 of its administrators. She has also led a regional teacher retention initiative in the eighth-largest school district in the United States, producing measurable gains in educator belonging and retention. To date, her work has reached more than 100,000 students through the educators she has trained and developed.

Her work has been featured in Education Week, EL Magazine, The Teaching Channel, the ISTE+ASCD Expert Webinar series, and the AP and New Principals Leadership Academy with Baruti Kafele.

Dr. Gabbadon holds a PhD in Policy and Organizational Studies, with a concentration in Urban Education, from Temple University's College of Education and Human Development, and a Master's degree in School Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. She resides in Philadelphia with her family.
